London as a sardine
Sep. 25th, 2002 09:38 pmTube Strike Day in London.
I deliberately slept in an extra half hour so I could miss my normal train and its abnormal traffic. I still ended up squished between people on the 9:38.
Argh I hate crowds.
Londoners are getting used to the damn strikes though. I feel somewhat sorry for the tourists - I've been here 5 years and I still only know where 3 of the buses go. I can't imagine visitors can make head or tail of the bus route spaghetti.
Coming home an hour later would also have been an exercise in deep breathing, but the gentleman two handholds away reeked of stale beer. Delightful.
I am sooooooo happy to be home!
