Mail today has brought me a 12" Ball-Jointed Doll I'd ordered - a Dragon brand "Fritz" from their WWII range. The articulation isn't as nice as the Obitsu or Volks 1/6th figures, and the body also suffers from the usual testosterone-poisoned musculature - these are dolls for boys, after all (no matter if they all call them 'action figures'). But I am blown away by how totally excellent the hands are. Each has a wire armature covered in moulded rubber, and you can move and pose each finger individually!

Très, très cool.

(and whilst I spent the princely sum of £6 on him, I found pictures of the figure online - at the price of $100! or £69 on eBayUK!) [boggles]

...it amuses the ever-loving hell out of me that as soon as WWII is mentioned, people think "blond hair, blue eyes", as seen in some of these dolls. While it's true that Hitler thought both were signs of true Aryan blood, very few Germans, no matter how 'clean' their lineage, actually have blond hair and blue eyes. Blond hair is a recessive genetic trait. There've been bets among German scientists that say that in about 100-200 years, there will be no real blond hair anymore.

Yeah, most of the Germans I know are brunettes!
