Was just thinking today about resurrecting the request to have two lanes on the pavements in York - one lane for the locals (i.e. those who know where we're going and want to get there fast) and one for tourists (so they can walk as slowly as they like, come to an abrupt halt and gawk). The only solution from now till, uh, January, is to go in town very early and get out ASAP
