If there's one constant in every fandom, it's the bashing of female characters. List your favorite 10 female characters of any fandom and why you like these girls/women.

1. Andromeda - Trance [the purple one]
   Because she's funny, sweet and sincere, as well as morally ambiguous, sneaky and never quite tells the truth. And you can tell she really does care about Harper and Beka (which is debatable with Trance the golden).


2. Blake's 7 - Cally
   Apart from the nifty and useful telepathy, she's quiet, strong and keeps her moral center. Her background sucks, but she doesn't wail on with the angst but sucks it up. She's also the only one who can really pull Avon up and possibly the only female character he ever cares about without major side-issues. I was so pissed when they killed her off!


3. Farscape - Aeryn Sun
   Because the girl kicks ass! And she also grows as a character - ethically and emotionally.
   
4. Weiss Kreuz - Hell
   She's loyal, smart and never gives in. Given some halfway competant side-kicks (OK, and a sane master), she could have done a lot better for herself.


5. Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Drusilla
   She's loopy, psychotic and downright creepy but I can't help but like her. It must be the dress-sense. [grins] Plus the fact she's got the greatest sense of black humour, you often can't help but feeling sorry for her, and she's always true to herself.


6. Masters of the Universe - Evil-Lyn
   Another case of a good, competant female Evil Lieutenant let down by a useless Evil Overlord and bumbling sidekicks. [sigh] But yet more cool dress sense.


7. Harry Potter - Hermione Granger
   Yes, I subscribe to the belief Hermione Granger is a Mary-Sue, but to me she's far and away the most believable and likeable of the three main children characters. Her joy in learning is always delightful (if annoyingly smug at times).


8. Good Omens - Pepper
   How can you not like Pepper? She's a real tearaway, and a great character. Adam couldn't do better.


9. CSI - Catherine
   She's got a past but she isn't ashamed of it. She works for what she wants, has her head in the real world, and can be hard, but still is vulnerable. She's family and friend orientated and she's the type of person you can respect.


10. Highlander - Tessa
    Clever, talented, smart, funny, beautiful, level-headed, likeable. She has it all - except for good taste in men...
