Advice to the Idiotic
Nov. 5th, 2004 11:05 amI know a lot of people say you shouldn't be rude about feedbackers; that you should be grateful for any response you get at all, in fact. But dammit, if someone can write moronic emails to me, no matter if they're attempting in a very limpwristed way to be complimentary, I reserve the right to mock the shit out of them. I'd do it to their faces, so I don't see why online should be sacrosanct. So basically, what I want to know is:
WTF is it with people who feedback you and say "it's good but you didn't write enough. It's too short. You should write more."?
You know what? The stories I write are the perfect length.
I'm not being vain - the reason I say they're the perfect length is because the point I wanted to make with the story has been made. Whether it's an amusing event in the daily life of Schwarz, or the start of Gojyo and Hakkai's affair, or Draco coming to terms with grief - it's been made.
The story is now over.
Done.
Finito.
Sure, for something like Aconite or my Weiß Kreuz Schnappschuesse series, I might admit I'm probably going to write sequels, but they'll be standalones. Just like whatever-it-was you've just read.
So, no, writing to me and saying "I liked but there's not enough of it" isn't going to encourage me to write more. It's just going to get up my nose.
And showcase you as the idiot who completely missed the point.
