Descendants of Darkness #1

Just finished volume 1 of Descendants of Darkness! (the English manga version of Yami no Matsuei)

[insert fangirl squeeing which I shan't bore you with here]

All in all, a definite gold star. The artwork was better than I expected and they've done an excellent job on translating the asides and sound-effects, something that sadly often doesn't happen. Which is a pity, as it's a solid chunk of manga's appeal. Tsuzuki comes across as a lot stronger person than he does in the anime (at least to me). I think I like him better in this. But way, way too little Watari so far!

And yep, mistress_renet, you have the right idea about Muraki.

He’d found the vodka in a locked bottom drawer. Schnapps would have been preferable, but thieves couldn’t be choosers, nicht wahr?

Almost a full bottle, and he had every intention of finishing it off. There was a small chance of alcohol poisoning finishing him off. He couldn’t quite bring himself to care.

He figured he’d get a couple of days in the Tank if – no, when – they found out. But if he was stupid enough to worry about the ‘justified’ punishments, the unjustified ones would break him.

And a couple of days for one evening’s oblivion? Well worth the price.

Depthcharge


Nagi waited until the telepath went to the toilets before asking,

“Schuldig doesn’t drink?”

“No,” replied Crawford, but seemed declined to continue. Nagi guessed he shouldn’t pursue it and returned to his dinner.

“A drunk telepath is a bad thing,” Farfarello declared unexpectedly.

Crawford winced. From the words or a memory, Nagi was unsure. But if Farfarello thought a drunk telepath was bad news, he was sure he didn't want to know.

Schuldig was returning to the table. From the thinned lips and cold glitter in his eyes Nagi guessed he’d been ‘listening’ to them. He wished he hadn’t asked.

WK Story Community Pimpage

I'm not usually much of one for multi-writer RP fics, but this is one I'm watching and enjoying at the moment:

It's AU after the end of Weiß Kreuz Kapital (i.e. the Drama CDs and Glühen never happened) and has an interesting premise for the basic plotline:

"It's been two years since the fall of Estet and their elders, but the new found peace is being shattered by a new organization filling the power vacuum left behind. An organization more cunning than Estet, one driven by human greed for power rather than religion, they want to rule that world rather than destroy it.
Antagonisms aside, Weiss and Schwartz have to work together to put an end to a common enemy."

I've been impressed how well the writers work together and the overall cohesion of the story, plus I always like to see other people's interpretations and backgrounds for the characters. The plot is currently winding up to the first big battle and some serious confrontage between Weiss, Schwarz, Kritiker and Esset, which I'm looking forward to. Oh, and there's plenty of hot sex for those who just want to read smut! [grin]
