Sep. 10th, 2003 01:09 amOne more free trip around the sun complete.
Scored some wonderful loot this year - my Older Sibling actually gave me literature I'll read and enjoy. I was, to be honest, completely flabbergasted. Jhonen Vasquez's Squee (which I love, love, love - should be subtitled 'the traumatised boy-next-door' snicker) and Johnny the Homicidal Maniac (so warped. so funny.); The Cat with a really big head, a fable by Roman Dirge (the guy who does Leonore, the Cute Little Dead Girl); Zeet by FSC (haven't read yet); and my favorite - Ted Naifeh's Courtney Crumrin and the Coven of Mystics - heroine of unpleasant children everywhere.
She also gave me a 'punk Hello Kitty' pen and a pink and black Hello Kitty tee-shirt! Squeee!
My mother gave me a couple of Spode reproduction blue & white dinner plates and a soup bowl, which was brilliant as I was thinking I needed to get a couple more nice dinnerplates for parties (my dinner service is old blue & white, ranging from about 1880 onwards - saves me having to keep matching the china pattern when I drop the stuff).
The Younger Sibling's tribute hasn't turned up yet, but is something to look forward to. Will have to see tomorrow (oops, later today I mean) if she liked her present.
Sadly I celebrated my birthday alone (well, not counting various phonecalls), but my Party of One had a good time nonetheless - red wine, Moussaka and some great comics. Week after next my friends are dragging me off to my fav French bistro, so I can't complain!
