toscas_kiss: Tosca's Kiss Steampunk Kiss (something wicked)
Tuesday night dinner with [livejournal.com profile] ripperlyn was great fun - it's a pity she's off to Edinburgh next week and not staying here in London. Ah well. Friday she's coming over with a couple of friends to use my videoplayer and big screen TV for a SeaQuest DSV videomarathon. Hoorah! Lots of fangirl squeeing and LucasLust (at least on my part) to ensue...

Yesterday sucked. My whatever-the-hell-it-is Digestive System Disorder played up and I stayed at home in bed. I'm off to see the Specialist next Thursday for the results of my X-ray and so he can tell me 1) what's wrong with me and 2) what, if anything, they can do for me. I have a nasty suspicion major dietary changes are headed my way. Bugger.

Pictures of the pendant I made my Younger Sibling for our birthday. It's patterned, matted silver, about 2mm thick, with an inset ruby. The mount is a bit dodgy as I'm still pretty crap at setting stones, but if you don't squint at it too hard it looks OK. The metal is fine (99.9%) silver, and constructed using Precious Metal Clay. The ruby is cabochon cut, opaque, and a nice mid-range red colour (though that doesn't show very well in the photos).

About life-sized (one shot with flash, one without)

On the music front: have managed to download four Xymox songs so far, which I've throughly enjoyed. Also one Icon of Cool, which was indeed, majorly cool. Reminded me of going shopping in my ultimate-favorite shirt shop, Cyberdog, at Camden Market. Not that I actually go clubbing per se, I just like the clothes. Plus the Camden store is an experience all to itself.

They have a bloody excellent website (though use the Back on the screen, not on the Menu as you'll get to got through the Intro again if you do). I love their Light Tees - T-shirts with flashing electronic messages and suchlike.

On the flat front: the deposit is now arranged. I've also arranged a loan so I can install the hardwood flooring, damp-proof the walls and redo the doubleglazing all in one fell swoop before moving in. The joys of homeownership descend before I'm even a homeowner!

For the bedroom and hallway I've found some very nice Rhodesian Teak parquet tiles:

I'm tossing up between solid bamboo and a very pale solid Scandanavian pine for the lounge.

The bathroom and kitchen are just going to have to wait I'm afraid. I'm thinking of tiling both of those anyway. I've seen a place that does encaustic tiles (cool medieval technique where an impression is stamped into the wet clay tile, a different coloured clay is poured in and then it's fired, resulting in a highly decorative and very hardwearing tile), which is very very tempting. Sadly also very very expensive.
