(this is really just notes to myself about my insanity, as why anyone would want to read about someone else's spring cleaning is completely beyond me)
Shifted all the art equipment, jewellery equipment, stationery, and multitude of knick-knacks onto the sofa and around it. Moved the Ugly Big Slime Green Armchair into the opposite corner. Cleared the mantelpiece* of all the friends & family photos, and replaced them with some of my good Willow Pattern china, reproduction C.16th wine decanters, my 1930s deco pewter tea service and my Korean celadon glazed teapot and teacups. Once I have the dining table it'll make life a lot easier to have them there and I can always put the photos on the wall.
Then sorted my videos, threw out a whole boxful and moved the Video Bookcase. Two of the as-high-as-me stacks of books-I-don't-have-a-bookcase-for did the Tower of Babel thing. I shovelled them into a little ziggurat. Decided to leave Bookcase #3 as is. Cleaned and moved the glass collection CD tower. Decided (bugger) that I should swap the glass tower and the Video Bookcase to be more space efficient and aesthetically pleasing. Ugh. Too damn sweaty, tired and sore-footed, so I'll do it tomorrow (or rather, later today).
Off to have a quick bath.
* for the bricked-up fireplace that doesn't work, as since the early 70's (I think) London has had a ban on wood and coal fires. Which may seem sad, but it means we don't have the lethal 'peasouper' fogs anymore. Always a good thing.
